6: Sipping and swimming resort style
Mission accomplished. It was a pool hopping day all tied in with the perfect cooperation of @Katarina and her nap times. What a traveller she is - hasn't missed a beat so far! Just goes with the flow.
Breakfast was a simple eggs on toast on any of the balconies. Not quite the island fare we have enjoyed but nonetheless hit the spot.
That done, it was time to enact the pool plan.
Rocked up to the kids' pool to start the day. In the baby's nap time, moved to the adults only pool and you guessed it, rounded it out with a three hour stretch back at the baby pool. Sun, water and drinks were available in all locations, so no complaints!
@Katarina has progressed from no interest in getting her feet wet on day 1 to neck deep and the splashing queen today. Unlike others in the group, she has not been sunburnt - loves putting on her sunscreen. Does have a nice bruise on her cheek though from where she face planted on the villa floor in her slippery socks.
We found dinner locally and brought it home. Actually, didn't turn out too badly - food was palatable, we've got left overs for breakfast and we didn't have to wait. Also involved a nice little walk to round out the "outside" adventure time.
Laughing, because, in the light of day, can't believe I called for a buggy last night to drive me to the grocery store for supplies. Via the road, it seemed a hike but the reality is that from the walkway of the villa it was a three minute walk.
Confessing, I haven't quite got the hang of this resort thing yet. It is all so busy. The secret is to plan ahead - otherwise everything is booked out and you can only get the late left over timeslots. There are so many families here and it would seem the early bird catches the worm and the dinner reservations. A first look at the online booking slots for the golf course over the next two days, suggests there are no slots available - will need to get to them in person tomorrow.
There's a whole day of activities on offer that you can join in but somehow we missed them all. Mind you the tacos beside the pool were declared the beat in the universe. Distracted by late swims and sunset and somehow even missed the fire show. Oh well, maybe tomorrow night.
We were sitting around chilling after dinner - laughing, talking, playing. @Katarina had her books and lots of bird noise sound effects with @Aunty Mindy and @Uncle Ian in the middle of all the chatter and laughter. Closed the book and with an "All done, nigh nigh" took herself into our bedroom which is off the living room and climbed up on the bed. That was it! @Anth did have to relocate and change for her cot, but our little party girl knows when she's done! Didn't hear a peep from her as we continued with our birthday celebrations - so much so, that @Mac said he had to get up and check on her! All good, just sounda in her sleep sack in her cot. Got to say, she has built up so much credit over the last 6 days, there will be all sorts of concessions if the melt down ever occurs. Surely, you can't be this happy and content all of the time.
We've carried the cards with us and have good intentions every night - but have so many stories at the end of each day we haven't found the time to play a single hand.
No evening is complete without a checkin on "Guy." When tonight's photo shot through on the chat I had to ask who it was - twinning so much now I can't tell the difference.
Some of us saw sunrise (definitely not @Mac and me) and sunset. Mind you, the sun falls so quickly, that showering at the wrong time (oops @Ian) means you could miss it. Fortunately, we get to do it all again tomorrow.
PS Congratulations to @Elise and @David who welcomed their little girl safely into the world today. Happy adventures ahead for this newest little NFL Seahawks fan.
